Barney’s Tavern proudly hosted its Annual Charity Golf Day this November as part of its fortieth birthday celebrations. The event once again brought together loyal supporters, sponsors, and golfers for a meaningful cause. Although Barney’s has been serving the community for four decades, the charity golf days have been held for the past 10 years and have quickly become a highlight on the calendar.
This year’s chosen beneficiary was the Nelson Mandela Bay Business Chamber, with funds directed specifically towards improving safety and infrastructure along our beachfront. The contribution of R91828.00 will assist in restoring the Marine Drive security hub to full functionality and will support the installtion of additional lighting and camera network along the Marine Drive. These efforts follow last year’s contribution, which assisted in improving lighting and security on the beachfront itself.
The day’s success would not have been possible without the support of our sponsors and participants. Their willingness to contribute year after year enables us to raise funds that make a genuine difference. A cheque handover marked the conclusion of the event, with representatives from the Nelson Mandela Bay Business Chamber and key sponsors in attendance.
Craig Mittens, owner of Barney’s Tavern and host of the golf day, extends his gratitude to all who contributed to making this year’s event such a success. Through ongoing support, the golf day continues to play a part in uplifting and improving the area we proudly call home.
We look forward to another successful and impactful event next year.
